At the north coast of Costa Rica, from December through April the sport fishing tours mainly stay inshore. Issys Tours crew and captain will normally be fishing at the bays and river mouths for Jack Crevalle, Grouper, Wahoo, Snook, and Roosterfish which are plentiful around the reefs, rocks and islands close to shore.
Peak season for Billfish is April to August and we recommend to book a full day.
During June and July, the deep sea fishing heats up like madness, this is the best time of the year to hook Sailfish, Marlin, Dorado, and Tuna all in one day.

MARLIN, hook every month of the year – Being November to early March exceptional, then slowing bites from April into June.
SAILFISH, hook throughout the year, being May thru August the top season. Slow months are from late August thru November.
TUNA, best months are August thru October, however, are available throughout the year.
DORADO, known as Mahi Mahi, this colorful fish is most abundant from late May thru October, matching the rain season of Costa Rica.
WAHOO, the best season starts with the rain in May, peaking in July and August. Most are caught around the rocky points.
ROOSTERFISH, available all year but, there are more caught in the Papagayo Gulf from November thru March.
